It’s been a little while since I released anything on DM’s Guild, but with the recent publication of Icewind Dale – Rime of the Frostmaiden, I felt it was time to put out some new content! For those who haven’t read this new campaign, it takes players to Icewind Dale: the frozen northern tundra of the Forgotten Realms setting, and I am very excited to release my very own Rime of the Frostmaiden map pack!

Now a Copper Best Seller!
Adventurers travel across the length and breadth of Icewind Dale, fighting native dangers and surviving the elements. Later, adventurers visit the necropolis of Ythryn, and it is this location that my maps focus on. Each of these maps highlights a specific place within Ythryn that didn’t receive an illustration in the main book. Today, I’d like to show off some of these maps you can find in my new Rime of the Frostmaiden map pack, available on DM’s Guild.
Locales of extravagance
In Rime of the Frostmaiden, Ythryn was a city ruled by powerful mages that crashed into Icewind Dale thousands of years prior. These mages acted like bored aristocrats, using and abusing magic to suit their fancy. Much of this idle excess can be seen in various maps such as the Bazaar of the Bizarre, Hall of Silk, and Museum.
Without going into too much detail (for sake of spoilers), some locations in Ythryn include encounter information, though not every encounter needs to end in bloodshed. Considering not everyone found in Ythryn is a monster, I added certain maps in the Ythryn DM’s Guild map pack just in case the adventurers decide to shoot first and ask questions later.
Towers of Magic
Continuing with the theme of magical excess are the towers dedicated to the schools of magic. These towers hold untold secrets, and some are pivotal in solving the ultimate puzzle of Ythryn.
Observatory
I’m just really proud of how this telescope turned out!
Wrap up
While I haven’t yet reached Ythryn with my current players, I’m looking forward to the looks on their faces when each location is revealed! With the announcement from Wizards of the Coast regarding the new Candlekeep Mysteries, be on the lookout for more DM’s Guild map packs from yours truly! I really hope you enjoy this Rime of The Frostmaiden map pack, and please let us know what you think if you snag a copy!
